Where Does Crazy Live?

In a Nut House, of course! I love this....I found it in a thrift store years ago. I dont actually keep nuts in it. I keep my nuts in the freezer (oh, the irony). Speaking of nuts, the Mr. (oh, the irony) is very picky about nut pronunciation. Especially pecan. He claims the correct way is PAH-kahn. If he hears it pronounced pee-can, he mumbles something about truck drivers.

Check back tomorrow for a delicious recipe.....no nuts.

Atomic Wudgie

Thursday night is Wudgie night in our house. That means catching up with her latest tricks. A few months ago it was roll over. Last week it was fetch--she walked the remote to the Mr. on command. This one she learned at her house. Everyone knows a zillion uses for zip-loc bags.....here's another one: keeping a Wudgie occupied for 5 minutes. The Mr. just looks at the mess and says "where is your mother".

Ever Felt Like This?

I love this piece of original artwork by Jennie Stephens. I purchased it directly from Jennie through her etsy store . The piece is made from strips of wool felt that are stitched directly on canvas. The color composition is wonderful and the texture from the wool felt fabric is soft and dimensional. I think it looks like hurricane swirls on a weather map. The piece hangs in our family room where the eye of the storm passes through regularly.

Kicking the Starbucket

So if you are a Starbucker you probably know that ALL (yes, EVERY) Starbucks closed today around 5:30PM for training. SO, what's a caffeine addict to do? Well, for a few hours I kicked the habit but then I fell off Juan Valdez's burro wagon. I dug out my Nespresso Aeroccino and made a sweet delicious cuppa cappu(ccino) all in the comfort of my own home! I had forgotten how well the Aeroccino froths milk (cold lowfat froths the very best--whole milk and half & half do not foam much at all). Check out this short video clip I made tonight that shows how easy the frother is to use and how wonderful the end result is. I think I may have to have another. And that will be me blog lurking at 3AM.

My Doo-vay is Lum-pay

or...my duvet is lumpet. My king-size down comforter shifts around in the duvet cover. You really can't see the lumps in this photo but they are there---the comforter shifts all to one side and down to the foot of the bed. Fluffing doesn't work. Anyone have any suggestions? I love the duvet. It is from West Elm and reminds me of a wedding dress. I don't think I would like comforter clips as they look like they would be hard and uncomfortable. Martha suggests sewing ribbons in all 4 corners of both the duvet cover and the comforter like this. If anyone has used the clips or the ribbon technique, or has any other ideas, please let me know!

A Little Fix Her Upper

This was in the stack of coasters slapped on our table at Outback the other night...I just had to fix it up a little--especially since I just had my blog designed by the fabulous Carly ( no, she is not my daughter but I am pretty sure she is a she!). I used a great (and free) photo editing product that you can get here.

Lurker to Launcher

Welcome. Today I go from blog lurker to blog launcher.....all from the comfort of my home. The grand plan is to journal life moments, post recipes for good food, chronicle attempts at creativity and share design finds. I want to thank Carly for the wonderful blog design. She made the process so easy and she knew exactly what I was looking for and delivered on the first draft. All this just by email!
