Today was a special lunch at my house for several friends that have October birthdays. Instead of cards with their presents I knit each a little pear from wonderful hand-spun hand-dyed yarn from Carrie at Hand Me Downs. I have been a fan of her blog for some time. The table looked very festive with antipasto and presents!

The secret to the recipe is a sprinkle of sea salt on top before baking. The balance of savory from the salt and sweet from the chocolate is perfect.
