Falling

We're getting ready for Fall around here. Our favorite time of year.

Marian the Librarian

Yes, I know it's wrong to put corrective eye glasses on a 2 year old. But she wanted to wear them. For just a moment. And now she is going around telling every one to "shhhhh please" and showing off her knowledge of the Dewey decimal system.

Two-day

Someone special is TWO today. Just ask her. She'll tell you. TWO and it's this many. Seems like just yesterday her mother and I were laughing hysterically on the night she was born because of this. She is still making us smile everyday.

It is....Good to be Home

Canada was terrific and I have lots of blog stories to share. Right after I unpack and launder and sort and put things back in order. First thing unpacked last night was this little guy for Wudgie. She loves her "moosh".

Sink Soup

Kitchen sinks are great for a lot of things. Like hand-washing delicate fabrics, soaking overbaked pans and icing down party drinks. And acting as a defacto corral for curious 2 year olds.

While I made dinner, Wudgie sat in the sink and prepared a delicious sink soup. Mmmmm. Tasty, quiet and occupied for 30 mins--- all in one easy recipe.

Hatzilla

There was a two and a half foot tall monster roaming the aisles of Kmart today. Dragging a large purse and wearing a funky hat, both of her choosing.
Watch out.

Jewel Drool

One of the joys of being a grandmother is getting to do things that you remember your own grandmother let you do that were so much fun and made your life special. Like going through her button box or trying on all her jewelry.

Even the good stuff.
After all, a little drool never hurt a Rolex.

The New 'Do

I love the Wudgie's new hairdo. In fact, it is her very first 'do. Here's to a lifetime of healthy hair, my sweet and may you have only good hair days, bangs that grow out gracefully and no split ends.
And happy 100th post to Good to be Home!

Downward Puppy

The Wudgie just loves to mimic everything. This is what I found her doing the other day after I unrolled my yoga mat on the floor. All I have to say to her is "Let's do some yoga" and she goes right in to some basic poses. How wonderful it would be to have something like yoga engrained so that it becomes just a part of her and her daily routine.

Big Shoes in a Little World

The Wudgie loves shoes. "Shewwwz" was one of her very first words. I am afraid she is destined for the size 10 rack if genetics come in to play for her feet. I remember when her mother fretted over having substantial feet as a young girl. I would tell her that it "takes strong and sizeable feet to hold up all of the wonderful woman that you will be" and I was right about that.

Redecorating the Beach

The Wudgie seems to have some obsessions about neatness and organization and is showing some decorating skills at an early age (I wonder where she got that from?). She even redecorated the beach and added some sand-pile embellishments to a beach chair during our last visit. Having sand on her feet and bottom really bothered her though and someone had to be at the ready with a small bucket of water to rinse them off on command. And we did. While there is nothing worse than an 18 month old diva, there is also nothing cuter.

Clowning Around

Nothing like a child with a sense of humour....and a big red clown nose.

The End.

The Wudgie and the Mr. in the back yard. Topsy-turvy upsy-daisy over-dramatic landing after going down the 2 foot slide. Add much squealing and the word "more" over and over again. And the Wudgie enjoyed it, too.

A Toast to Good Health

Drinks and a nosh on the patio.

The Mr.'s : Ketel One and tonic with a splash of orange juice and a slice of backyard-grown Meyer lemon. This drink is a family special known as a "Parker". The nosh is fresh little mozzarella balls (called bocconcini) marinated in olive oil and sprinkled with coarse salt and black pepper.

The Wudgie's : Mott's for Tots apple juice (full strength as it is already reduced sugar). This is known as a "joooosh". The nosh is baby goldfish.

The toast: Here's looking at you, kid.

True or False?

The Wudgie has gorgeous eyes and fantastic eyelashes. She knows how to bat them and melt the Mr.'s heart (and mine). In fact, we've added a few lines to the "what does the ---- say?" song......the doggie says woof woof woof, the kitty says meow meow meow etc etc until we get to the grammie says mwha mwha mwha (make kissy sounds) and the grandad says anything you want you can have sweetie.

Need a little help with your lashes so you can get what you want, too? Here's a site that offers lots of choices. With same day shipping. Just think- you could have anything you wanted from the Mr. by Monday. Lucky you.

Let The Good Times Roll!

As you know, Thursday night is Wudgie night around here. We're on a pretty tight schedule on Thursday nights. Let's see, there's cookie time, juice time, play time, outside time, book time, dinner time, bath time, jammie time, some more book time, warm milk time, big bed with the little pillow time and sweet dreams time. Good times.
